The Greatness of Kurkuri Tirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.5.360.1)

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच। गच्छेत्ततः क्षोणिनाथ तीर्थं परमशोभनम्। कुर्कुरीनाम विख्यातं सर्वपापप्रणाशनम्।

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca| gacchettataḥ kṣoṇinātha tīrthaṁ paramaśobhanam| kurkurīnāma vikhyātaṁ sarvapāpapraṇāśanam||

Shri Markandeya said: Thereafter, O lord of the earth, one should go to a most beautiful tirtha, renowned by the name Kurkuri, which destroys all sins.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.360.2)

यं यं प्रार्थयते कामं पशुपुत्रधनादिकम्। तं तं ददाति देवेशी कुर्कुरी तीर्थदेवता।

yaṁ yaṁ prārthayate kāmaṁ paśuputradhanādikam| taṁ taṁ dadāti deveśī kurkurī tīrthadevatā||

Whatever desire is prayed for there - cattle, sons, wealth, and the like - that Kurkuri, the goddess of the tirtha, grants.

Verse 3 (skanda.5.360.3)

क्षेत्रपालो वसेत्तत्र ढौण्ढेशो नाम नामतः। तस्य चाराधनं कृत्वा नारी वा पुरुषोऽपि वा।

kṣetrapālo vasettatra ḍhauṇḍheśo nāma nāmataḥ| tasya cārādhanaṁ kṛtvā nārī vā puruṣo'pi vā||

There dwells the field-guardian named Dhaundhesha. Having worshipped him, whether woman or man,

Verse 4 (skanda.5.360.4)

वन्दनादपि राजेन्द्र दौर्भाग्यं नाशमाप्नुयात्। अपुत्रो लभते पुत्रमधनो धनमुत्तमम्।

vandanādapi rājendra daurbhāgyaṁ nāśamāpnuyāt| aputro labhate putramadhano dhanamuttamam||

O best of kings, even by mere reverence, misfortune is destroyed. The sonless obtains a son, the poor obtains excellent wealth.

Verse 5 (skanda.5.360.5)

नारी नरस्तथाप्येवं लभते काममुत्तमम्। स्पर्शनाद्दर्शनात्तस्य तीर्थस्य विधिपूर्वकम्।

nārī narastathāpyevaṁ labhate kāmamuttamam| sparśanāddarśanāttasya tīrthasya vidhipūrvakam||

In the same way, both woman and man obtain their highest desire by duly touching and beholding that tirtha.
