The Greatness of Shringi Tirtha

Verse 1 (skanda.5.370.1)

श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच। शृङ्गितीर्थं ततो गच्छेन्मोक्षदं सर्वदेहिनाम्। मृतानां तत्र राजेन्द्र मोक्षप्राप्तिर्न संशयः।

śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca| śṛṅgitīrthaṁ tato gacchenmokṣadaṁ sarvadehinām| mṛtānāṁ tatra rājendra mokṣaprāptirna saṁśayaḥ|||

Shri Markandeya said: Thereafter one should go to Shringi tirtha, which grants liberation to all embodied beings. O best of kings, those who die there attain liberation, without doubt.

Verse 2 (skanda.5.370.2)

तत्रैव पिण्डदानेन पितॄणामनृणो भवेत्। तेन पुण्येन पूतात्मा लभेद्गाणेश्वरीं गतिम्।

tatraiva piṇḍadānena pitṝṇāmanṛṇo bhavet| tena puṇyena pūtātmā labhedgāṇeśvarīṁ gatim|||

By offering the funeral cake there, a man becomes free from the debt owed to the ancestors. By that merit, with purified soul, he attains the state of Ganeshvari.
