Prabhasa Khanda · Chapter 105

The Glory of Brahma

Chapter 104All chaptersChapter 106

Verse 1 (skanda.7.105.1)

īśvara uvāca| athānyatsaṁpravakṣyāmi rahasyaṁ sthānamuttamam| sarvapāpaharaṁ nṛṇāṁ vistarātkathayāmi te||

Ishvara said: Now I shall tell you of another secret and excellent place, which removes all the sins of men; I shall relate it to you in detail.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.105.2)

pradhānadevamāhātmyaṁ māhātmyaṁ kalpavāsinām| someśo daityahaṁtā ca bālarūpī pitāmahaḥ||

This is the glory of the chief gods, the glory of those who dwell there for a kalpa — Somesha, the Slayer of Daityas (Vishnu), and the Grandsire (Brahma) in the form of a child.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.105.3)

arkasthalastathādityaḥ prabhāsaḥ śaśibhūṣaṇaḥ| ete ṣaṭpravarā devāḥ kṣetre prābhāsike sthitāḥ||

Arkasthala, Aditya, Prabhasa, and Shashibhushana (Shiva) — these six foremost deities are established in the Prabhasa field.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.105.4)

teṣāṁ darśanamātreṇa kṛtakṛtyaḥ prajāyate| mucyate pātakairghorairājanmajanitairdhruvam||

By the mere sight of them, one becomes fulfilled in purpose, and is surely freed from the terrible sins accumulated since birth.

Verse 5 (skanda.7.105.5)

devyuvāca| pūrveṣāmuktadevānāṁ māhātmyaṁ kathitaṁ tvayā| prabhāse bālarūpīti yatproktaṁ tatkathaṁ vacaḥ||

The Devi said: You have told the glory of the gods mentioned earlier. But what does it mean when you say that in Prabhasa he is 'in the form of a child'?

Verse 6 (skanda.7.105.6)

anyeṣu sarva sthāneṣu vṛddharūpī pitāmahaḥ| kathaṁ ca samanuprāpto māhātmyaṁ tasya kiṁ smṛtam||

In all other places, the Grandsire is in the form of an old man. How did he come to be here, and what is his glory recounted to be?

Verse 7 (skanda.7.105.7)

kathaṁ sa pūjyo deveśa yātrā kāryā kathaṁ nṛbhiḥ| etadvistarato brūhi prasanno yadi me prabho||

O Lord of gods, how is he to be worshipped, and how should men undertake pilgrimage to him? O Lord, if you are pleased with me, tell this in full.

Verse 8 (skanda.7.105.8)

īśvara uvāca| śṛṇu devi pravakṣyāmi māhātmyaṁ brahmasambhavam| yasya śravaṇamātreṇa mucyate sarvapātakaiḥ||

Ishvara said: Listen, O Devi, I shall relate the glory connected with Brahma, by merely hearing which one is freed from all sins.

Verse 9 (skanda.7.105.9)

nāsti brahmasamo devo nāsti brahmasamo guruḥ| nāsti brahmasamaṁ jñānaṁ nāsti brahmasamaṁ tapaḥ||

There is no god equal to Brahma, no teacher equal to Brahma; there is no knowledge equal to Brahma, no austerity equal to Brahma.

Verse 10 (skanda.7.105.10)

tāvaddhamaṁti saṁsāre duḥkhaśokabhayaplutāḥ| na bhavaṁti surajyeṣṭhe yāvadbhaktāḥ pitāmahe||

So long as they do not become devotees of the Grandsire, chief among the gods, beings wander in this world submerged in sorrow, grief, and fear.

Verse 11 (skanda.7.105.11)

Just as a creature's mind is deeply attached to sense-objects — if it were likewise fixed upon Brahma, who would not be freed from bondage?

Verse 12 (skanda.7.105.12)

devyuvāca| evaṁ māhātmyasaṁyukto yadi brahmā jagadguruḥ| prābhāsike mahātīrthe kasminsthāne tu saṁsthitaḥ||

The Devi said: If Brahma, the teacher of the world, is thus endowed with such glory, in what place within the great Prabhasa tirtha is he established?

Verse 13 (skanda.7.105.13)

kimarthamāgatastatra kasminkāle surottamaḥ| kathaṁ sa pūjyo vipreṁdraistithau kasyāṁ kramādvada||

For what purpose, and at what time, did that best of gods come there? How, and on which lunar day, is he worshipped by the foremost Brahmins? Tell this in order.

Verse 14 (skanda.7.105.14)

īśvara uvāca| somanāthasya aiśānyāṁ sāṁbādityāgnigocare| brahmaṇaḥ paramaṁ sthānaṁ brahmaloka ivāparaḥ||

Ishvara said: In the northeast of Somanatha, near Sambaditya and Agni, is the supreme abode of Brahma — as if a second Brahmaloka.

Verse 15 (skanda.7.105.15)

tiṣṭhate kalpasaṁsthā vai tatra kalpāṁtavāsinaḥ| tatra sthāne sthito devi bālarūpī pitāmahaḥ||

There, those who dwell for the duration of a kalpa remain established for that kalpa. O Devi, in that very place the Grandsire abides in the form of a child.

Verse 16 (skanda.7.105.16)

jagatprabhurlokakartā sattvamūrtirmahāprabhaḥ| āgataścāṣṭavarṣastu kṣetre prābhāsike śubhe||

The lord of the world, the creator of the worlds, embodiment of sattva, of great splendour, came to this auspicious Prabhasa field in the form of an eight-year-old child.

Verse 17 (skanda.7.105.17)

tatrā'karottapo ghoraṁ divyābdānāṁ sahasrakam| saṁsthāpya tu mahāliṁgaṁ sisṛkṣurvividhāḥ prajāḥ||

There he performed fierce austerities for a thousand divine years, and, desiring to create manifold beings, he established a great linga.

Verse 18 (skanda.7.105.18)

tataḥ kālāṁtaretīte somena prārthito vibhuḥ| kṣayarogavimuktena samyakchraddhānvitena vai||

Then, after some time had passed, the all-pervading Lord was entreated by Soma (the Moon), who had been freed from his wasting disease and was filled with true faith.

Verse 19 (skanda.7.105.19)

liṁgapratiṣṭhāhetorvai kṣetre prābhāsike śubhe| koṭibrahmarṣibhiḥ sārddhaṁ sahito viśvakarmaṇā| kārayāmāsa vidhivatpratiṣṭhāṁ liṁgamuttamam||

For the sake of establishing the linga in the auspicious Prabhasa field, accompanied by a crore of Brahmarshis and together with Vishvakarma, he had that excellent linga duly consecrated.

Verse 20 (skanda.7.105.20)

pratiṣṭhāpya tato liṁgaṁ somanāthaṁ varānane| dāpayāmāsa viprebhyo bhūriśo yajñadakṣiṇām||

O fair-faced one, having had the Somanatha linga consecrated, he caused abundant sacrificial fees to be given to the Brahmins.

Verse 21 (skanda.7.105.21)

evaṁ pratiṣṭhitaṁ liṁgaṁ brahmaṇā lokakartṛṇā| varṣāṇi cātra jātāni prabhāse bālarūpiṇaḥ||

Thus was that linga consecrated by Brahma, the maker of worlds; and since then many years have passed for him in the form of a child at Prabhasa.

Verse 22 (skanda.7.105.22)

catvāriṁśadvayaṁ caiva kṣetramadhyanivāsinaḥ| evaṁ parārddhamagamatprabhāsakṣetravāsinaḥ||

Dwelling in the midst of that field, forty-two of his years thus passed; and thus a parardha (half of Brahma's lifespan) elapsed for him who dwells in the Prabhasa field.

Verse 23 (skanda.7.105.23)

devyuvāca| brahmaṇo dinamānaṁ tu māsavarṣasahasrakam| tatsarvaṁ vistarādbrūhi yathāyurbrahmaṇaḥ smṛtam||

The Devi said: What is the measure of a single day of Brahma, in months, years, and thousands of years? Tell me all of this in detail, as the lifespan of Brahma is traditionally reckoned.

Verse 24 (skanda.7.105.24)

īśvara uvāca| paramāyuḥ smṛto brahmā parārddhaṁ tasya vai gatam| prabhāsakṣetrasaṁsthasya dvitīyaṁ bhavate'dhunā||

Ishvara said: Brahma's lifespan is reckoned as supreme; one parardha (half) of it has already passed. For him who dwells in the Prabhasa field, the second parardha is now in progress.

Verse 25 (skanda.7.105.25)

yadā prābhāsike kṣetre brahmā lokapitāmahaḥ| āgataścāṣṭavarṣastu bālarūpī tadocyate||

When Brahma, the Grandsire of the worlds, came to the Prabhasa field as an eight-year-old, it was then that he came to be called 'the one in the form of a child.'

Verse 26 (skanda.7.105.26)

anyeṣu sarvatīrtheṣu vṛddharūpī pitāmahaḥ| muktvā prābhāsikaṁ kṣetraṁ sadaiva vibudhapriye||

O beloved of the wise, in all other tirthas except the Prabhasa field, the Grandsire always remains in the form of an old man.

Verse 27 (skanda.7.105.27)

brahmāṁḍe yāni tīrthāni brahmāṇasteṣu ye smṛtāḥ| teṣāmādyo mahātejāḥ prabhāse yo vyavasthitaḥ||

Among all the tirthas in the universe where forms of Brahma are traditionally recalled, the foremost and most radiant of them all is he who is established at Prabhasa.

Verse 28 (skanda.7.105.28)

kalpekalpe tu nāmāni śṛṇu tvaṁ tāni vai priye| svayaṁbhūḥ prathame kalpe dvitīye padmabhūḥ sthitaḥ||

O beloved, hear the names he bears in each successive kalpa: in the first kalpa he is Svayambhu, in the second he is established as Padmabhu.

Verse 29 (skanda.7.105.29)

tṛtīye viśvakarteti bālarūpī caturthake| etāni mukhyanāmāni kathitāni svayaṁbhuvaḥ||

In the third he is called Vishvakarta, and in the fourth, Balarupi (the one in child form). These are the principal names of the Self-born declared here.

Verse 30 (skanda.7.105.30)

nityaṁ saṁsmarate yastu sa dīrghāyurnaro bhavet||

Whoever constantly remembers these names becomes a long-lived man.

Verse 31 (skanda.7.105.31)

candrasūryagrahāḥ sarve sadevāsuramānuṣāḥ| trailokyaṁ naśyate sarvaṁ brahmarātrisamāgame||

At the coming of Brahma's night, the moon, the sun, all the planets, and the entire triple world together with gods, demons, and men, all perish.

Verse 32 (skanda.7.105.32)

punardine tu saṁjāte prabuddhaḥ sanpitāmahaḥ| tathā sṛṣṭiṁ prakurute yathāpūrvamabhūtpriye||

O beloved, when day dawns again, the Grandsire, now awakened, once more creates in the same manner as before.

Verse 33 (skanda.7.105.33)

dinamānaṁ pravakṣyāmi brahmaṇo lokakartṛṇaḥ| netrabhāgāccaturbhāgastruṭiḥ kālo nigadyate||

Now I shall declare the measure of the day of Brahma, the maker of worlds. A quarter of the time of an eye-blink is called the time-unit 'truti.'

Verse 34 (skanda.7.105.34)

tasmācca dviguṇaṁ jñeyaṁ nimiṣāṁtaṁ varānane| nimiṣaiḥ pañcadaśabhiḥ kāṣṭhā ityucyate budhaiḥ| triṁśadbhiścaiva kāṣṭhābhiḥ kalā proktā manīṣibhiḥ||

O fair one, twice that is to be known as a 'nimesha' (blink). Fifteen nimeshas, the learned say, make a 'kashtha'; and thirty kashthas, the wise declare, make a 'kala.'

Verse 35 (skanda.7.105.35)

triṁśatkalo muhūrtaḥ syāddinaṁ paṁcadaśaistu taiḥ| dinamānā niśā jñeyā ahorātraṁ tayorbhavet||

Thirty kalas make one muhurta, and fifteen muhurtas make one day; the night should be known as equal in measure to the day, and the two together make one ahoratra, a full day-night.

Verse 36 (skanda.7.105.36)

taiḥ paṁcadaśabhiḥ pakṣaḥ pakṣābhyāṁ māsa ucyate| māsaiścaivāyanaṁ ṣaḍbhirabdaṁ syādayanadvayāt||

Fifteen such day-nights make a fortnight (paksha); two fortnights are called a month; six months make an ayana (solstitial period), and from two ayanas comes a year.

Verse 37 (skanda.7.105.37)

catvāriṁśaddhi lakṣāṇi lakṣāṇāṁ tritayaṁ punaḥ| viṁśatiśca sahasrāṇi jñeyaṁ sauraṁ caturyugam||

Forty hundred-thousand, plus three hundred-thousand, plus twenty thousand years — this should be known as the solar Chaturyuga, the cycle of four ages.

Verse 38 (skanda.7.105.38)

caturyugaikasaptatyā manvaṁtaramudāhṛtam| aindrametadbhavedāyuḥ samāsāttava kīrtitam||

Seventy-one Chaturyugas are declared to make one manvantara; this, in brief, has been told to you as the lifespan reckoned for an Indra.

Verse 39 (skanda.7.105.39)

svāyaṁbhuvo manuḥ pūrvaṁ manuḥ svārociṣastataḥ| auttamastāmasaścaiva raivataścākṣuṣastataḥ||

First was Manu Svayambhuva; then Manu Svarochisha; then Auttama, Tamasa, Raivata, and Chakshusha.

Verse 40 (skanda.7.105.40)

vaivasvato'rkasāvarṇirbrahmasāvarṇireva ca| dharmasāvarṇināmā ca raucyo bhūtyastathaiva ca||

Then Vaivasvata, Arkasavarni, Brahmasavarni, the one named Dharmasavarni, Raucya, and likewise Bhautya.

Verse 41 (skanda.7.105.41)

caturdaśaite manavaḥ saṁkhyātāste yathākramam| bhūtānbhaviṣyāniṁdrāṁśca sarvānvakṣye tava kramāt||

Thus have these fourteen Manus been enumerated in order. Now I shall tell you, in due order, all the Indras — past and future.

Verse 42 (skanda.7.105.42)

viśvabhukca vipaścicca sukīrtiḥ śibireva ca| vibhurmanobhuvaścaiva tathaujasvī balirbalī||

Vishvabhuk, Vipashchit, Sukirti, Shibi, Vibhu, Manobhu, the vigorous one, and mighty Bali —

Verse 43 (skanda.7.105.43)

adbhutaśca tathā śāṁtī ramyo devavaro vṛṣā| ṛtadhāmā divaḥsvāmī śuciḥ śakrāścaturdaśa||

Adbhuta, Shanti, Ramya, Devavara, Vrisha, Ritadhama, Divahsvami, and Shuchi — these are the fourteen Shakras (Indras).

Verse 44 (skanda.7.105.44)

ete sarve vinaśyaṁti brahmaṇo divase priye| rātristu tāvatī jñeyā kalpamānamidaṁ smṛtam||

O beloved, all these perish at the end of one day of Brahma; the night should be known as of equal measure — this is the reckoning of a kalpa.

Verse 45 (skanda.7.105.45)

prathamaṁ śvetakalpastu dvitīyo nīlalohitaḥ| vāmadevastṛtīyastu tato rāthaṁtaro'paraḥ||

The first is the Shveta kalpa; the second, Nilalohita; the third, Vamadeva; and after that, the next is Rathantara.

Verse 46 (skanda.7.105.46)

rauravaḥ paṁcamaḥ proktaḥ ṣaṣṭhaḥ prāṇa iti smṛtaḥ| saptamo'tha bṛhatkalpaḥ kandarpo'ṣṭama ucyate||

The fifth is called Raurava, the sixth is known as Prana; the seventh is the Brihat kalpa, and the eighth is called Kandarpa.

Verse 47 (skanda.7.105.47)

sadyo'tha navamaḥ proktaḥ īśāno daśamaḥ smṛtaḥ| dhyāna ekādaśaḥ proktastathā sārasvato'paraḥ||

The ninth is called Sadya, the tenth is known as Ishana; the eleventh is called Dhyana, and after that is Sarasvata.

Verse 48 (skanda.7.105.48)

trayodaśa udānastu garuḍo'tha caturdaśaḥ| kaurmaḥ paṁcadaśo jñeyaḥ paurṇamāsī prajāpateḥ||

The thirteenth is Udana, the fourteenth is called Garuda; the fifteenth should be known as Kaurma, on the full-moon day of Prajapati.

Verse 49 (skanda.7.105.49)

ṣoḍaśo nārasiṁhastu samādhistu tataḥ paraḥ| āgneyo'ṣṭādaśaḥ proktaḥ somakalpastato'paraḥ||

The sixteenth is Narasimha, after which comes Samadhi; the eighteenth is called Agneya, and after that is the Soma kalpa.

Verse 50 (skanda.7.105.50)

bhāvano viṁśatiḥ proktaḥ suptamālīti cāparaḥ| vaikuṇṭhaścārciṣo rudro lakṣmīkalpastathāpareḥ||

The twentieth is called Bhavana, and after that is Suptamali; then Vaikuntha, Archis, Rudra, and after that the Lakshmi kalpa.

Verse 51 (skanda.7.105.51)

saptaviṁśo'tha vairājo gaurīkalpastathā'ndhakaḥ| māheśvarastathā proktastripuro yatra ghātitaḥ||

The twenty-seventh is Vairaja, then the Gauri kalpa, and Andhaka; after that is the Maheshvara kalpa, in which Tripura was slain.

Verse 52 (skanda.7.105.52)

pitṛkalpastathāṁte ca yā kuhūrbrahmaṇaḥ smṛtā| triṁśatkalpāḥ samākhyātā brahmaṇo māsi vai priye||

At the end is the Pitri kalpa, and that which is remembered as Brahma's new-moon (kuhu). Thus, O beloved, thirty kalpas have been declared within a single month of Brahma.

Verse 53 (skanda.7.105.53)

atītāḥ kathitāḥ sarve vārāho varttate'dhunā| pratipadbrahmaṇo yatra vārāheṇoddhṛtā mahī||

All these past kalpas have been told; now the Varaha kalpa is in progress, which is Brahma's first lunar day, in which the earth was rescued by the Boar incarnation.

Verse 54 (skanda.7.105.54)

triṁśatkalpaiḥ smṛto māso varṣaṁ dvādaśabhistu taiḥ| anena varṣamānena tadā brahmā'ṣṭavārṣikaḥ| ānītaḥ somarājena somanāthaḥ pratiṣṭhitaḥ||

Thirty kalpas are reckoned as one month, and twelve such months make one year. By this measure of years, Brahma, then eight years old, was brought by Somaraja (the Moon), and Somanatha was consecrated.

Verse 55 (skanda.7.105.55)

evaṁ kṣetre nivasataḥ prabhāse bālarūpiṇaḥ| parārddhamekamagamaddvitīyaṁ vartate'dhunā||

Thus, for him who dwells in the form of a child in the Prabhasa field, one parardha has passed; the second is now in progress.

Verse 56 (skanda.7.105.56)

evaṁ mahāprabhāvo'sau prabhāsakṣetramadhyagaḥ| brahmā svayaṁbhūrbhagavānbālatvātkṣetramāśritaḥ||

Thus that greatly powerful, self-born Lord Brahma resides in the midst of the Prabhasa field; it is precisely because he took the form of a child that he took refuge in this field.

Verse 57 (skanda.7.105.57)

sa vai pūjyo namaskāryo vaṁdanīyo manīṣibhiḥ| ādau sa eva pūjyaḥ syātsamyagyātrāphalepsubhiḥ||

He alone is worthy of worship, of salutation, to be revered by the wise; those who desire the complete fruit of the pilgrimage should worship him first of all.

Verse 58 (skanda.7.105.58)

yastaṁ pūjayate bhaktyā sa māṁ pūjayate dhruvam| yastaṁ dveṣṭi sa māṁ dveṣṭi yo'sya pūjyo mamaiva saḥ||

Whoever worships him with devotion surely worships me. Whoever hates him hates me; whoever is worthy of his worship is worthy of mine as well.

Verse 59 (skanda.7.105.59)

brahmaṇā pūjyamānena ahaṁ viṣṇuśca pūjitaḥ| viṣṇunā pūjyamānena ahaṁ brahmā ca pūjitaḥ||

When Brahma is worshipped, both I and Vishnu are worshipped; when Vishnu is worshipped, both I and Brahma are worshipped.

Verse 60 (skanda.7.105.60)

mayā pūjitamātreṇa brahmaviṣṇū ca pūjitau| sattvaṁ brahmā rajo viṣṇustamo'haṁ saṁprakīrtitaḥ||

By the mere worship of me, both Brahma and Vishnu are worshipped. Brahma is sattva, Vishnu is rajas, and I am declared to be tamas.

Verse 61 (skanda.7.105.61)

vāyurbrahmā'nalo rudro viṣṇurāpaḥ prakīrtitaḥ| rātrirviṣṇuraho rudro yā saṁdhyā sa pitāmahaḥ||

Wind is Brahma, fire is Rudra, and Vishnu is declared to be water. Night is Vishnu, day is Rudra, and twilight is the Grandsire.

Verse 62 (skanda.7.105.62)

sāmavedo hyahaṁ devi brahmā ṛgveda ucyate| yajurvedo bhavedviṣṇuḥ kulādhāro hyatharvaṇaḥ||

O Devi, I myself am the Samaveda; Brahma is said to be the Rigveda; Vishnu is the Yajurveda, and the Atharvaveda is the support of the lineage.

Verse 63 (skanda.7.105.63)

uṣṇakālo hyahaṁ devi varṣākālaḥ pitāmahaḥ| śītakālo bhavedviṣṇurevaṁ kālatrayaṁ hi saḥ||

O Devi, the hot season is myself; the rainy season is the Grandsire; the cold season is Vishnu — thus the three of them are these three seasons.

Verse 64 (skanda.7.105.64)

dakṣiṇāgnirahaṁ jñeyo gārhapatyo hariḥ smṛtaḥ| brahmā cāhavanīyastu evaṁ sarvaṁ tridaivatam||

I am to be known as the Dakshinagni; Hari is remembered as the Garhapatya fire, and Brahma as the Ahavaniya fire — thus everything belongs to these three deities.

Verse 65 (skanda.7.105.65)

ahaṁ liṁgasvarūpastho bhago viṣṇuḥ prakīrtitaḥ| bījasaṁstho bhavedbrahmā viṣṇurāpaḥ prakīrtitaḥ||

I abide in the form of the linga; Vishnu is declared to be the bhaga, the womb-form; Brahma abides in the form of the seed, and Vishnu is declared to be the water.

Verse 66 (skanda.7.105.66)

ahamākāśarūpastha evaṁ tattvamayaṁ prabhuḥ| ākāśātsravate yacca tadbījaṁ brahmasaṁsthitam| svarūpaṁ brāhmamāśritya brahmā bījaprarohakaḥ||

I abide in the form of space — thus the Lord is composed of the elements. That which flows from space is the seed established in Brahma; taking refuge in his own Brahma-nature, Brahma himself is the one who causes that seed to sprout.

Verse 67 (skanda.7.105.67)

nābhimadhye sthito brahmā viṣṇuśca hṛdayāṁtare| vaktramadhye ahaṁ devi ādhāraḥ sarvadehinām||

Brahma abides in the middle of the navel, and Vishnu within the heart; O Devi, I abide in the middle of the mouth — thus we are the support of all embodied beings.

Verse 68 (skanda.7.105.68)

yaścāhaṁ sa svayaṁ brahmā yo brahmā sa hutāśanaḥ| yā devī sa svayaṁ viṣṇuryo viṣṇuḥ sa ca candramāḥ||

Whoever I am, that itself is Brahma; whoever Brahma is, that is fire. Whoever the Goddess is, that itself is Vishnu; whoever Vishnu is, that is the moon.

Verse 69 (skanda.7.105.69)

yaḥ kālaḥ sa svayaṁ brahmā yo rudraḥ sa ca bhāskaraḥ| evaṁ śaktiviśeṣeṇa paraṁ brahma sthitaṁ priye||

Whoever Time is, that itself is Brahma; whoever Rudra is, that is the Sun. Thus, O beloved, through this special power, the Supreme Brahman itself abides in all these forms.

Verse 70 (skanda.7.105.70)

oṁkārastatparaṁ brahma gāyatrī prakṛtiḥ parā| ubhāvetau naro jñātvā na vicyavati mucyate||

The syllable Om is that Supreme Brahman itself, and the Gayatri is the supreme Prakriti (Nature). A man who knows both of these does not fall away, and attains liberation.

Verse 71 (skanda.7.105.71)

evaṁ yo veda deveśi advaitaṁ paramākṣaram| sa sarvaṁ veda naivānyo bhedakarttā narādhamaḥ||

O Goddess of gods, whoever thus knows this non-dual, supreme, imperishable reality knows everything; anyone else who creates division is the vilest of men.

Verse 72 (skanda.7.105.72)

ekarūpaṁ paraṁ brahma kāryabhāvātpṛthakasthitaḥ| yastaṁ dveṣṭi varārohe brahmadveṣṭā sa ucyate||

The Supreme Brahman is of one single form, though it appears distinct from the standpoint of function. O fair one, whoever hates it is called a hater of Brahman.

Verse 73 (skanda.7.105.73)

dakṣiṇāṁge sthito brahmā vāmāṁge mama keśavaḥ| yastayordveṣamādhatte sa dveṣṭā mama bhāmini||

Brahma is established on my right side, and Keshava (Vishnu) on my left side. O radiant lady, whoever harbors hatred toward either of the two is one who hates me.

Verse 74 (skanda.7.105.74)

evaṁ jñātvā varārohe hyabhinnenāntarātmanā| brahmāṇaṁ keśavaṁ rudramekarūpeṇa pūjayet||

O fair one, knowing this, with an undivided inner self, one should worship Brahma, Keshava, and Rudra as a single, undivided form.
