The Glory of Saubhagyeshvari (Gauri)

Verse 1 (skanda.7.124.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि गौरीं सौभाग्यदायिनीम्। पश्चिमे रावणेशस्य धनुषां पञ्चके स्थिताम्

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi gaurīṁ saubhāgyadāyinīm| paścime rāvaṇeśasya dhanuṣāṁ pañcake sthitām

Ishvara said: Then, O great Goddess, one should go to Gauri, the giver of good fortune, situated five bow-lengths to the west of Ravaneshvara.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.124.2)

यत्रातप्यत्तपो घोरं स्वयं देवी ह्यरुंधती। सौभाग्यं कांक्षमाणा सा गौरीपूजापरायणा

yatrātapyattapo ghoraṁ svayaṁ devī hyaruṁdhatī| saubhāgyaṁ kāṁkṣamāṇā sā gaurīpūjāparāyaṇā

There the goddess Arundhati herself, desiring good fortune and devoted to the worship of Gauri, performed terrible austerity,

Verse 3 (skanda.7.124.3)

संप्राप्ता परमां सिद्धिं तस्या देव्याः प्रभावतः। तृतीयायां शुक्लपक्षे माघे मासि वरानने

saṁprāptā paramāṁ siddhiṁ tasyā devyāḥ prabhāvataḥ| tṛtīyāyāṁ śuklapakṣe māghe māsi varānane

and by that goddess's power attained supreme accomplishment. O fair-faced one, on the third day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magha —

Verse 4 (skanda.7.124.4)

यस्तां पूजयते भक्त्या स सौभाग्यमवाप्नुयात्। अन्यजन्मनि देवेशि नात्र कार्या विचारणा

yastāṁ pūjayate bhaktyā sa saubhāgyamavāpnuyāt| anyajanmani deveśi nātra kāryā vicāraṇā

— whoever worships her with devotion obtains good fortune, even in another birth; O Goddess of gods, no doubt need be entertained about this.
