Prabhasa Khanda · Chapter 132
The Glory of Siddhalakshmi
Verse 1 (skanda.7.132.1)
īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi vaiṣṇavīṁ śaktimuttamām| someśādīśadigbhāge nātidūre vyavasthitām
Ishvara said: Then, O great Goddess, one should go to the supreme Vaishnavi Shakti, situated not far to the northeast of Someshvara.
Verse 2 (skanda.7.132.2)
siddhalakṣmīti vikhyātā hyatra pīṭhādhidevatā
Here the presiding deity of the seat is renowned by the name Siddhalakshmi.
Verse 3 (skanda.7.132.3)
brahmāṇḍe prathamaṁ pīṭhaṁ yatprabhāsaṁ vyavasthitam| tatra devi mahāpīṭhe yoginyo bhūcarāḥ khagāḥ| bhairaveṇa same tāstu krīḍante svecchayā priye
This seat, established at Prabhasa, is the very first seat in the cosmos; there, O beloved Goddess, at that great seat, yoginis who roam the earth and sky sport freely with Bhairava, as they please.
Verse 4 (skanda.7.132.4)
jālaṁdharaṁ mahāpīṭhaṁ kāmarūpaṁ tathaiva ca| śrīmadrudranṛsiṁhaṁ ca caturthaṁ pīṭhamuttamam
Jalandhara is a great seat, and likewise Kamarupa; Shrimad Rudranrisimha is the fourth, excellent seat.
Verse 5 (skanda.7.132.5)
ratnavīryaṁ mahāpīṭhaṁ kāśmīraṁ pīṭhameva ca| etāni devi pīṭhāni yo vetti sa ca mantravit
Ratnavirya is a great seat, and Kashmir too is a seat. O Goddess, whoever knows these seats is truly versed in mantra.
Verse 6 (skanda.7.132.6)
sarveṣāṁ caiva pīṭhānāmādhāraṁ pīṭhamuttamam| saurāṣṭre tu mahādevi nāmnā khyātaṁ mahodayam| kāmarūpadharaṁ jñānaṁ yatrādyāpi pravartate
The foundation of all these seats is this supreme seat, O great Goddess, renowned by name in Saurashtra as Mahodaya, where even today the knowledge bearing the form of Kamarupa continues to flourish.
Verse 7 (skanda.7.132.7)
tatra pīṭhe sthitā devī mahālakṣmīti viśrutā| sarvapāpapraśamanī sarvakāryaśubhapradā
The goddess established at that seat is renowned by the name Mahalakshmi, quelling every sin and granting auspicious results in every undertaking.
Verse 8 (skanda.7.132.8)
śrīpañcamyāṁ naro yastu pūjayettāṁ vidhānataḥ| gandhapuṣpādibhirbhaktyā tasyālakṣmībhayaṁ kutaḥ
Whatever man duly worships her on Shripanchami with devotion, using fragrance, flowers, and the like — how could the fear of misfortune remain for him?
Verse 9 (skanda.7.132.9)
uttarāṁ diśamāsthāya mahālakṣmyāstu sannidhau| yo japenmantrarājñīṁ tāṁ siddhalakṣmīti viśrutām
Facing the northern direction, in the presence of Mahalakshmi, whoever repeats that queen of mantras, known by the name Siddhalakshmi,
Verse 10 (skanda.7.132.10)
lakṣajāpyavidhānena dīkṣāsnānādipūrvakam| daśāṁśahomasaṁyuktaṁ trimadhuśrīphalaiḥ śubhaiḥ
— repeating it a hundred thousand times duly, preceded by initiation, bathing and the like, and offering one-tenth of that count in fire sacrifice with the three sweet substances and auspicious bilva fruit,
Verse 11 (skanda.7.132.11)
evaṁ pratyakṣatāṁ yāti tasya lakṣmīrna saṁśayaḥ| dadāti vāṁchitāṁ siddhimiha loke paratra ca
— thus Lakshmi, without doubt, becomes manifest before him, and grants him the accomplishment he desires, both in this world and the next.
Verse 12 (skanda.7.132.12)
tṛtīyāyāmathāṣṭamyāṁ caturdaśyāṁ vidhānataḥ| yastāṁ pūjayate bhaktyā tasya siddhiḥ kare sthitā
Whoever duly worships her with devotion on the third, eighth, or fourteenth lunar day holds accomplishment, as it were, in the very palm of his hand.
