Prabhasa Khanda · Chapter 164
The Glory of Ashvineshvara
Verse 1 (skanda.7.164.1)
īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi tasmātpūrveṇa saṁsthitam| mahāpāpaughaśamanaṁ pūjitaṁ sarvakāmadam
Ishvara said: Then, O great Goddess, one should go to the linga situated to its east, which quells the mass of great sins, is worshipped, and grants every desire.
Verse 2 (skanda.7.164.2)
aśvineśvaranāmānaṁ dhanuṣāṁ paṁcake sthitam| sarvarogapraśamanaṁ dṛṣṭaṁ sarvārthasādhakam
It is known by the name Ashvineshvara, situated five bow-lengths away, seen to quell all diseases and accomplish every aim.
Verse 3 (skanda.7.164.3)
ye kecidrogiṇo loke teṣāṁ tadbheṣajaṁ mahat| māghamāse dvitīyāyāṁ darśanaṁ tasya durlabham
For whatever sick people there are in the world, it is a great remedy; yet on the second lunar day of Magha, seeing it becomes difficult to obtain.
Verse 4 (skanda.7.164.4)
tasmātpaśyecca tadbhaktyā yadi śreyo'bhikāṁkṣitam| mahāpāpaughaśamanaṁ pūjitaṁ sarvakāmadam
Therefore, if one desires well-being, one should behold it with devotion — the quencher of the mass of great sins, worshipped, granter of every wish.
Verse 5 (skanda.7.164.5)
iti liṅgadvayaṁ devi sūryaputrapratiṣṭhitam| tasminneva dine paśyetsaṁyatātmā narottamaḥ
O Goddess, thus these two lingas, established by the sons of the Sun (the Ashvins), should be seen on that very day by the best of men, with disciplined mind.
