The Glory of Megheshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.226.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। तस्यैव पूर्वभागे तु नैर्ऋते पापमोचनात्। मेघेश्वरेति विख्यातं सर्वपातकनाशनम्

īśvara uvāca| tasyaiva pūrvabhāge tu nairṛte pāpamocanāt| megheśvareti vikhyātaṁ sarvapātakanāśanam

Ishvara said: In the eastern part of that same place, to the south-west of Papamochana, there stands the linga renowned as Megheshvara, destroyer of all sins.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.226.2)

अनावृष्टिभये जाते शांतिं तत्रैव कारयेत्। वारुणीं विप्रमुख्यैस्तु भावयेदुदकैर्महीम्

anāvṛṣṭibhaye jāte śāṁtiṁ tatraiva kārayet| vāruṇīṁ vipramukhyaistu bhāvayedudakairmahīm

When the fear of drought arises, one should perform a peace-rite there; and, together with leading brahmins, saturate the earth with the waters of the Varuni rite.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.226.3)

मेघैः प्रतिष्ठितं लिंगं यत्र नित्यं प्रपूज्यते। अनावृष्टिभयं किंचिन्न च तत्र प्रजायते

meghaiḥ pratiṣṭhitaṁ liṅgaṁ yatra nityaṁ prapūjyate| anāvṛṣṭibhayaṁ kiṁcinna ca tatra prajāyate

Where the linga established by the clouds is constantly worshipped, there no fear of drought whatsoever arises.
