The Glory of Gandharvasenesvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.27.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। अथ तत्रैव देवेशि लिंगं गन्धर्वसेनया। स्थापितं घनवाहस्य पुत्र्या गौरीसमीपतः

īśvara uvāca| atha tatraiva deveśi liṁgaṁ gandharvasenayā| sthāpitaṁ ghanavāhasya putryā gaurīsamīpataḥ

Ishvara said: O Devesi, then right there Gandharvasena, the daughter of Ghanavaha (the cloud-borne Gandharva), installed a linga near Gauri.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.27.2)

धनुषां त्रितये तत्र स्थितं पूर्वविभागतः। विमलेश्वरनामानं सर्वरोगविनाशनम्

dhanuṣāṁ tritaye tatra sthitaṁ pūrvavibhāgataḥ| vimaleśvaranāmānaṁ sarvarogavināśanam

It stands there in the eastern section, at a distance of three bow-lengths, named Vimaleshvara — the destroyer of all diseases.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.27.3)

पूजयित्वा तृतीयायां दौर्भाग्यैर्मुच्यतेऽङ्गना। सर्वान्कामानवाप्नोति पुत्रपौत्रप्रतिष्ठिता

pūjayitvā tṛtīyāyāṁ daurbhāgyairmucyate'ṅganā| sarvānkāmānavāpnoti putrapautrapratiṣṭhitā

Having worshipped it on the third lunar day, a woman is freed from misfortune; she attains all her desires and becomes established through sons and grandsons.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.27.4)

इति व्रतं महादेवि त्रेतासंध्यांशके गते। गन्धर्वस्यैवमाख्यातं श्रुतं पातकनाशनम्

iti vrataṁ mahādevi tretāsaṁdhyāṁśake gate| gandharvasyaivamākhyātaṁ śrutaṁ pātakanāśanam

O Mahadevi, thus in the twilight-portion of the Treta age this vow connected with the Gandharva has been told — one which, merely by being heard, destroys sins.
