The Glory of Brahmeshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.318.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। तस्याश्च पूर्वदिग्भागे नातिदूरे व्यवस्थितम्। लिंगं महाप्रभावं हि सर्वपातकनाशनम्

īśvara uvāca| tasyāśca pūrvadigbhāge nātidūre vyavasthitam| liṁgaṁ mahāprabhāvaṁ hi sarvapātakanāśanam

Ishvara said: To the east of that, not very far, is situated a linga of great power, destroying all sins.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.318.2)

ब्रह्मेश्वरेति नामाढ्यं ब्राह्मणैश्च प्रतिष्ठितम्। ऋषितोयाजले स्नात्वा तल्लिंगं यः प्रपूजयेत्। स भवेद्वेदविद्विप्रो जाड्यभावविवर्जितः

brahmeśvareti nāmāḍhyaṁ brāhmaṇaiśca pratiṣṭhitam| ṛṣitoyājale snātvā talliṁgaṁ yaḥ prapūjayet| sa bhavedvedavidvipro jāḍyabhāvavivarjitaḥ

It is endowed with the name Brahmeshvara, and was consecrated by Brahmins. Whoever bathes in the water of the Rishitoya and worships that linga becomes a Brahmin versed in the Vedas, free from all dullness of mind.
