Prabhasa Khanda · Chapter 337
The Glory of Narayana-griha (the House of Narayana)
Verse 1 (skanda.7.337.1)
īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi nārāyaṇagṛhaṁ param| goṣpadāddakṣiṇe bhāge sāgarasya taṭe śubhe
Ishvara said: Then, O great Goddess, one should go to the supreme Narayana-griha (House of Narayana), to the south of Goshpada, on the auspicious shore of the ocean.
Verse 2 (skanda.7.337.2)
nyaṁkumatyāḥ samīpe tu sarvapātakanāśane| tatrakalpāṁtarasthāyī svayaṁ tiṣṭhati keśavaḥ
Near the Nyankumati, the destroyer of all sins, Keshava himself abides there always, remaining through the aeons.
Verse 3 (skanda.7.337.3)
pitṝṇāmuddharaṇārthāya hyasminraudre kalau yuge| yadā daityavināśaṁ sa kurute bhagavānhariḥ
For the sake of delivering the ancestors in this terrible Kali age, when the Lord Hari brings about the destruction of the daityas,
Verse 4 (skanda.7.337.4)
viśrāmārthaṁ tadā tatra gṛhe tiṣṭhati nityaśaḥ| nārāyaṇagṛhaṁ tena vikhyātaṁ jagatītale
then, for the sake of rest, he abides there in that house continually; by that it is renowned on earth as Narayana-griha.
Verse 5 (skanda.7.337.5)
kṛte janārdanonāma tretāyāṁ madhusūdanaḥ| dvāpare puṇḍarīkākṣaḥ kalau nārāyaṇaḥ smṛtaḥ
In the Krita age he is named Janardana, in the Treta Madhusudana, in the Dvapara Pundarikaksha, and in the Kali age he is remembered as Narayana.
Verse 6 (skanda.7.337.6)
evaṁ caturyuge prāpte punaḥpunararindama| kṛtvā dharmavyavasthānaṁ tatsthānaṁ pratipadyate
Thus, O subduer of foes, age after age, having established dharma, he returns again and again to that very place.
Verse 7 (skanda.7.337.7)
ekādaśyāṁ nirāhāro yastaṁ devaṁ prapaśyati| sa paśyati dhruvaṁ sthāne pratyānantaṁ hareḥ padam
Whoever, fasting, beholds that god on the eleventh lunar day, surely beholds, in that very place, the eternal feet of Hari.
Verse 8 (skanda.7.337.8)
tena pītāni vastrāṇi deyāni dvijapuṁgave| snānaṁ śrāddhaṁ ca kartavyaṁ samyagyātrāphalepsubhiḥ
Yellow garments should be given by him to an excellent brahmin; bathing and shraddha should be performed by those who desire the full fruit of the pilgrimage.
Verse 9 (skanda.7.337.9)
iti te kathitaṁ mahāprabhāvaṁ harisaṁketaniketanodbhavam| śṛṇute vā prayatastu yaḥ sudhīḥ paṭhate vā labhate sa sadgatim
Thus has this great power, arising from Hari's own marked abode, been told to you; whoever, self-controlled and wise, hears or recites it, attains the highest goal.
