The Glory of Bahusuvarneshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.355.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि देवं बहुसुवर्णकम्। हिरण्यापूर्वदिग्भागे स्थाने बहुसुवर्णके

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi devaṁ bahusuvarṇakam| hiraṇyāpūrvadigbhāge sthāne bahusuvarṇake

Ishvara said: O Great Goddess, one should then go to the god Bahusuvarnaka, to the east of Hiranya, at the place named Bahusuvarnaka.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.355.2)

धर्मपुत्रेण यत्रैव कृतो यज्ञः सुदुष्करः। नाम्ना बहुसुवर्णेति स्थाप्य लिंगं महाप्रभम्

dharmaputreṇa yatraiva kṛto yajñaḥ suduṣkaraḥ| nāmnā bahusuvarṇeti sthāpya liṅgaṁ mahāprabham

Where a most difficult sacrifice was performed by the son of Dharma (Yudhishthira); he established there a most radiant linga under the name Bahusuvarna.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.355.3)

सर्वक्रतूनां फलदं नाम्ना सर्वेश्वरं विदुः। तत्रैव संस्थितं लिंगं पूर्णं सारस्वतैर्जलैः

sarvakratūnāṁ phaladaṁ nāmnā sarveśvaraṁ viduḥ| tatraiva saṁsthitaṁ liṅgaṁ pūrṇaṁ sārasvatairjalaiḥ

The wise know it by the name Sarveshvara, as the giver of the fruit of all sacrifices; there indeed the linga stands, filled with the waters of the Sarasvati.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.355.4)

स्नात्वा तत्र वरारोहे पिण्डदानं ददाति यः। कुलकोटिं समुद्धृत्य रुद्रलोके महीयते

snātvā tatra varārohe piṇḍadānaṁ dadāti yaḥ| kulakoṭiṁ samuddhṛtya rudraloke mahīyate

O most excellent one, whoever bathes there and offers the pinda-offering — having thereby redeemed a crore of his lineage — is exalted in the world of Rudra.

Verse 5 (skanda.7.355.5)

यस्तं पूजयते भक्त्या गन्धपुष्पैर्विधानतः। कोटिपूजाफलं तस्य तथेत्याह सदाशिवः

yastaṁ pūjayate bhaktyā gandhapuṣpairvidhānataḥ| koṭipūjāphalaṁ tasya tathetyāha sadāśivaḥ

Whoever worships him with devotion, with scent and flowers, according to rule — for him there is the fruit of a crore acts of worship; so spoke Sadashiva.
