The Glory of Rudra-hrada

Verse 1 (skanda.7.439.1)

॥ पुलस्त्य उवाच ॥ ततो गच्छेन्नृपश्रेष्ठ पुण्यं रुद्रह्रदं शुभम्॥ यत्र स्नातो नरो भक्त्या गणाधीशत्वमाप्नुयात्

|| pulastya uvāca || tato gacchennṛpaśreṣṭha puṇyaṁ rudrahradaṁ śubham|| yatra snāto naro bhaktyā gaṇādhīśatvamāpnuyāt

Pulastya said: Thereafter, O best of kings, one should go to Rudra-hrada, sacred and auspicious, where a man who bathes with devotion attains lordship over the Ganas.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.439.2)

पुरा हत्वांऽधकं दैत्यं सगणो वृषभध्वजः॥ ततः स्नातो ह्रदं कृत्वा ततो रुद्रह्रदोऽभवत्

purā hatvāṁ'dhakaṁ daityaṁ sagaṇo vṛṣabhadhvajaḥ|| tataḥ snāto hradaṁ kṛtvā tato rudrahrado'bhavat

Formerly, having slain the daitya Andhaka, Vrishabhadhvaja (Shiva), together with his Ganas, made a pool there and bathed; thence it became Rudra-hrada.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.439.3)

चतुर्द्दश्यां महाराज यस्तत्र कुरुते नरः॥ स्नानं तस्य भवेत्पुण्यं सर्वतीर्थसमुद्भवम्

caturddaśyāṁ mahārāja yastatra kurute naraḥ|| snānaṁ tasya bhavetpuṇyaṁ sarvatīrthasamudbhavam

O great king, whoever bathes there on the fourteenth lunar day obtains the merit that arises from all the holy fords combined.
