जनार्दन दत्तात्रेय को लोगों को जागृत करने वाले नाम देता है। जनार्दन कृष्ण की प्रसिद्ध उपाधि है। जागरण बाहरी उत्तेजना नहीं बल्कि आन्तरिक गति है जो आध्यात्मिक भूख जगाती है। जब कोई दत्तात्रेय की शिक्षा से मिलता है और अचानक सांसारिक सन्तोष की अपनी पिछली असन्तुष्ट खोज जारी रखने में असमर्थ पाता है, वे जनार्दन के कार्य का अनुभव कर रहे हैं।
