Bhairavi Ashtakam

bhairavīṃ tripurāṃ devīṃ tapo'gnisvarūpiṇīm | raktavarṇāṃ mahāśaktiṃ bhairavīṃ praṇamāmyaham ||1||

मैं त्रिपुर भैरवी को प्रणाम करता हूँ, जो रक्तवर्ण महाशक्ति और तप-अग्नि की स्वरूपा हैं।

I bow to Tripura Bhairavi, the red-hued great Shakti, embodiment of the fire of tapas.

japamālāṃ kare dhṛtvā śāstravidyāpradāyinīm | jñānatapaḥpradāṃ mātaṃ bhairavīṃ praṇamāmyaham ||2||

मैं जपमाला धारण करने वाली, शास्त्रविद्या, ज्ञान और तप देने वाली भैरवी माता को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to Mother Bhairavi, holding the rosary, giver of scriptural knowledge, wisdom, and tapas.

kapālamālinīṃ ghorāṃ karuṇārasapūritām | ajñānatamasāṃ hantrīṃ bhairavīṃ praṇamāmyaham ||3||

मैं कपालमालिनी, उग्र पर करुणामयी, अज्ञान-अंधकार की नाशिनी भैरवी को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to fierce Bhairavi, garlanded with skulls, filled with compassion, destroyer of the darkness of ignorance.

ālasyakrodhakāmādīn dahantīṃ yogavahninā | cittaśuddhipradāṃ devīṃ bhairavīṃ praṇamāmyaham ||4||

मैं भैरवी को प्रणाम करता हूँ, जो योग-अग्नि से आलस्य, क्रोध, काम आदि को जलाकर चित्तशुद्धि देती हैं।

I bow to Bhairavi, who burns laziness, anger, desire, and other impurities with the fire of yoga, granting purity of mind.

mṛtyubodhapradāṃ devīṃ kālatattvaprakāśinīm | satyasādhanamārgasthāṃ bhairavīṃ praṇamāmyaham ||5||

मैं भैरवी को प्रणाम करता हूँ, जो मृत्यु-बोध देती हैं, कालतत्त्व को प्रकाशित करती हैं और सत्य साधना मार्ग में स्थित हैं।

I bow to Bhairavi, giver of awareness of mortality, revealer of the principle of time, established in the path of true sadhana.

bhayabhītajanatrāṇāṃ duṣṭaśaktivināśinīm | dhairyavīryapradāṃ nityaṃ bhairavīṃ praṇamāmyaham ||6||

मैं भैरवी को प्रणाम करता हूँ, जो भयभीत जनों की रक्षा करती हैं, दुष्ट शक्तियों का नाश करती हैं और धैर्य-वीर्य देती हैं।

I bow to Bhairavi, protector of the fearful, destroyer of harmful forces, and constant giver of courage and valor.

anuśāsanapriyaṃ rūpaṃ sādhakasthairyadāyinīm | vratajapyapriyāṃ mātaṃ bhairavīṃ praṇamāmyaham ||7||

मैं भैरवी माता को प्रणाम करता हूँ, जिनका स्वरूप अनुशासनप्रिय है, जो साधकों को स्थैर्य देती हैं और व्रत-जप प्रिय हैं।

I bow to Mother Bhairavi, whose form loves discipline, who grants steadiness to seekers and delights in vrata and japa.

bhuktimuktipradāṃ devīṃ kuṇḍalinyāḥ prabodhinīm | parāśaktimayīṃ nityaṃ bhairavīṃ praṇamāmyaham ||8||

मैं भुक्ति-मुक्ति देने वाली, कुंडलिनी जागृत करने वाली और पराशक्तिमयी भैरवी को प्रणाम करता हूँ।

I bow to Bhairavi, giver of worldly welfare and liberation, awakener of Kundalini, ever filled with supreme Shakti.

bhairavyaṣṭakamidaṃ puṇyaṃ yaḥ paṭhenniyataḥ śuciḥ | tapobalaṃ manaḥśuddhiṃ labhate devikṛpayā ||9||

जो भक्त इस पवित्र भैरवी अष्टकम् का शुद्ध और अनुशासित भाव से पाठ करता है, वह देवी कृपा से तपबल और मन की शुद्धि प्राप्त करता है।

Whoever recites this sacred Bhairavi Ashtakam with purity and discipline obtains strength of tapas and purity of mind by the Goddess’s grace.
