Ashtakamsअष्टकम्

An ashtakam is a hymn of eight verses (ashta means eight) praising a deity in a compact, complete form. The structure makes ashtakams ideal for daily recitation: long enough to dwell on the deity's qualities, short enough to chant in a few minutes. Famous examples include the Lingashtakam and the Madhurashtakam.
