mahārajatacelayā mahitamallikāmālayā tulārahitaphālayā tulitavāribhṛjjālayā | śivābhimataśīlayā śiśirabhānucūḍālayā mahīdhravarabālayā mama hṛtaṃ mano līlayā ||1||

उनके रजतवर्णी वस्त्र से, उनकी मल्लिका-माला से, उनके अनुपम भाल से, वर्षा-मेघों के समान उनके केशपाश से, शिवप्रिय उनके स्वभाव से, शीतल चन्द्रमा से सुशोभित उनकी कांति से, और पर्वतराज की श्रेष्ठ पुत्री होने से -- मेरा मन उनकी लीला से हर लिया गया है।

By her silvery, moon-bright garment, her honored garland of jasmine, her incomparable forehead, her hair rivaling a mass of rain-clouds, her nature beloved of Shiva, her radiance crested with the cool moon, and as the excellent daughter of the Mountain -- my mind is stolen away in her play.

namajjanabhavāntayā nalinaśobhinetrāntayā nirītikṛdudantayā nijanivāsavedāntayā | lasacchukaśakuntayā lalitakundajiddantayā mano mama hṛtaṃ tayā manasijāntakṛtkāntayā ||2||

जो शरणागतों के भवबंधन का अंत करती हैं, जिनकी आँखें कमल के समान शोभित हैं, जिनका सान्निध्य विपत्ति का नाश करता है, जो वेदांत के सार में निवास करती हैं, जिनका सुंदर शुक साथी है, जिनके दाँत कुंद पुष्प को भी जीत लेते हैं, और जो कामांतक शिव की प्रियतमा हैं -- उनसे मेरा मन हर लिया गया है।

By her who ends the worldly bondage of those who bow to her, whose eyes shine like the lotus, whose presence dispels misfortune, who dwells in the essence of Vedanta, who keeps a graceful parrot, whose teeth surpass jasmine buds, and who is beloved of Him who ended the god of love -- my mind is stolen by her.

suvarṇasumanāsayā suramahīdharāvāsayā śaśāṅkarucihāsayā śarabiṣaktabāṇāsayā | kṛpākalitadāsayā kṛtajagattrayollāsayā vibhinnapuraśāsayā vivaśito'hamatrāsayā ||3||

उनकी स्वर्णिम पुष्प-मंडित असि से, देव-पर्वत में उनके निवास से, चन्द्रमा के समान उनकी हास्य-कांति से, बाणयुक्त उनके धनुष से, भक्तों पर उनकी कृपा से, त्रिलोक में उनके द्वारा किए उल्लास से, और भय-निवारण से -- मैं पूर्णतः विवश हूँ।

By her golden, flower-adorned blade, whose abode is the mountain of the gods, whose smile is radiant as the moon, whose bow is fitted with keen arrows, who holds her devotees in compassion, who fills the three worlds with joy, who commands the cities, and who banishes all fear -- I am utterly captivated.

kacālijitabhṛṅgayā kamalajittvarāpāṅgayā kutūhalikuraṅgayā kucayuge mahātuṅgayā | kanadrucitaraṅgayā kalitavidviṣadbhaṅgayā prasaktaharasaṅgayā paravaśo'smi vāmāṅgayā ||4||

भ्रमरों को जीतने वाले उनके केशपाश से, कमल को जीतने वाली उनकी चंचल चितवन से, कुरंग-सी जिज्ञासु उनकी आँखों से, उनके उन्नत वक्षों से, उनकी दीप्तिमान तरंगों से, शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाली शक्ति से, और हर के साथ उनके नित्य सान्निध्य से -- मैं पूर्णतः विवश हूँ।

By her tresses outshining swarms of bees, her swift glance surpassing the lotus, her eyes like a curious doe, her high, full bosom, her waves of radiant splendor, her power that breaks down enemies, and her eternal union with Hara as his own left half -- I am utterly overpowered.

vataṃsitakadambayā vadanalobhilolambayā karādṛtakalambayā kramavidhūtakādambayā | praṇamradhṛtaśambayā prakaṭitākhilalambayā hṛto'smi jagadambayā hṛtaśaśāṅkabhṛdbimbayā ||5||

कदंब पुष्पों से अलंकृत, भ्रमर के समान मनोहर मुख वाली, हाथ में कमलनाल धारण करने वाली, हंस-गति को भी लजाने वाली, नमस्कार करने वालों पर मंगलकारी कृपा करने वाली, समस्त आभूषणों से सुशोभित, और चन्द्रमा को भी जीतने वाले मुखमंडल से युक्त जगदम्बा से मैं मोहित हूँ।

By her adorned with kadamba blossoms, her face alluring as a hovering bee, her hand gracefully holding a lotus-stalk, her gait surpassing the wild geese, her auspicious grace for those who bow to her, her fully manifest ornaments, and her moon-surpassing radiant face -- I am captivated by the Mother of the world.

janīlasadahāryayā janimatāṃ manodhāryayā surārivadhakāryayā sukṛtiveditaudāryayā | paritrayīvicāryayā priyakavṛkṣabhūcaryayā prakāśitahṛdāryayā paśupateraham bhāryayā ||6||

समस्त प्राणियों को मोहित करने वाली उनकी कांति से, जीवों के मन में बसने वाली, देव-शत्रुओं के वध का कार्य करने वाली, सुकृतियों द्वारा जानी गई उदारता वाली, त्रयी वेद से चिंतित, प्रियक वृक्षों में विचरण करने वाली, और प्रकाशित आर्य हृदय वाली, पशुपति की भार्या पार्वती की मैं शरण में हूँ।

By her radiant presence that enchants all beings, who is cherished in the minds of the living, whose task is the slaying of the enemies of the gods, whose generosity is known to the virtuous, who is contemplated through the three Vedas, who dwells amid the priyaka groves, and whose noble heart shines forth -- I belong to her, the wife of Pashupati.

praṇamrasuravargayā prakaṭitātmabhūsargayā stuvānamunigargayā stutikṛdarpitasvargayā | himādrikulanirgayā hitatatratrayīmārgayā madākulitabhargayā manasi me sthitaṃ durgayā ||7||

जिनके सम्मुख देवगण नत होते हैं, जिनसे ब्रह्मा की सृष्टि प्रकट होती है, जिनकी गर्ग मुनि स्तुति करते हैं, जो स्तुतिकर्ताओं को स्वर्ग देती हैं, जो हिमाद्रि-कुल से उत्पन्न हैं, जो त्रयी वेद के हितकर मार्ग को दिखाती हैं, और जो भर्ग शिव को भी मोहित कर देती हैं -- वह दुर्गा मेरे मन में स्थित हैं।

By her before whom the host of gods bows, through whom Brahma's creation unfolds, whom the sage Garga praises, who grants heaven to those who sing her praise, who has emerged from the lineage of the Himalaya, who shows the most beneficial path of the three Vedas, and who enthralls Shiva himself with love -- Durga abides in my mind.

puro naṭitarambhayā puraharē sthitārambhayā samagrakucakumbhayā sakalavandyavāggumbhayā | śarāhatanśumbhayā śamitadurjanojjṛmbhayā bhavāmyahamadambhayā paravaśo gaṇeḍḍimbhayā ||8||

जिनके सम्मुख रंभा भी नृत्य करती हैं, जो पुरहर शिव में सदा अनुरक्त हैं, जो पूर्ण कुम्भ के समान शोभा वाली हैं, जिनकी वाणी सबके द्वारा वंदनीय है, जिन्होंने बाण से निशुम्भ का वध किया, और जो दुर्जनों के उन्माद को शांत करती हैं -- मैं निष्कपट भाव से उनका हो जाता हूँ, एक निश्छल शिशु के समान उनकी शरण में विवश हूँ।

By her before whom even Rambha the celestial dancer performs, whose devotion is ever rooted in Purahara (Shiva), whose full form is like a sacred pitcher, whose eloquence is praised by all, who struck down the demon Nishumbha with her arrow, and who quells the arrogance of the wicked -- I become hers without pretense, surrendering utterly, like an innocent child.
