भारत के स्कूलों में चरित्र शिक्षा आन्दोलन - ईमानदारी, करुणा और अखण्डता जैसे मूल्यों को अमूर्त आदर्शों के बजाय जीवन्त आदतों के रूप में विकसित करने का प्रयास - संस्थागत स्तर पर धर्मशीला का काम है। धर्मशीला वह बिन्दु है जहाँ चुना हुआ स्वाभाविक बन जाता है।
