Arjuna Weds Subhadra

With the Yadavas away at a festival on Antardvipa, Arjuna explains to Subhadra the kinds of wife and the rites of marriage, urges a Gandharva union, and names that very night as auspicious. When she weeps in silence he thinks of his father Indra, who arrives at Dvaraka with Shachi, Narada, Vasishtha and Arundhati, while Krishna comes back by night with the elders, leaving the sleeping Balarama behind. Indra has the marriage performed with full rites, consecrates and adorns Arjuna, and Krishna tells Arjuna to stay twenty-two days in Rukmini's house in his ascetic guise and then leave for Khandavaprastha in Krishna's chariot.
