Subhadra Drives Arjuna Out of Dvaraka

Arjuna tells Subhadra to feast the brahmins and, on the pretext of completing a vow, to bring Krishna's armed chariot from the palace. She does so, gives the brahmins gifts and food, and, since no one on earth handles reins better, takes the reins herself while Arjuna throws off his ascetic disguise and mounts in armour with Indra's diadem. The maidens congratulate her on her husband; the townspeople, hearing the chariot thunder out, are divided between applause and fury, and as some rush at him with weapons Arjuna shoots arrows over the palaces, harming no one, and rides out through the Raivataka gate.
