Worship of Vishnu on the Twelfth Day Through the Year

Yudhishthira asks which fast brings the greatest fruit. Bhishma relates what the Self-existent one himself sang: on the twelfth lunar day of each month, from Margashirsha to Kartika, a man who worships Vishnu for a day and a night under a different name, from Keshava to Damodara, gains the fruit of a named sacrifice. One who worships him so for a full year remembers his past lives and finds much gold, and at the end should feed Brahmins or give ghee. No fast is greater than this.
