Whose Food May Be Eaten

Yudhishthira asks whose food a brahmin, a kshatriya, a vaishya and a shudra may eat. Bhishma answers that the three upper classes may take food from one another but not from shudras, and that anyone who lives by a shudra's work, including physicians, artisans and informers, counts as a shudra. He lists the harms that follow from eating forbidden food.
