Atonements for Accepting Gifts and Forbidden Food

Yudhishthira asks for the atonements a brahmin should perform after accepting forbidden gifts or eating forbidden food. Bhishma lists them: recitation of the Savitri, fasting, standing until sunrise, bathing at the three junctures, and similar acts, with separate rules for eating at funeral observances and for sharing a meal with shudras, vaishyas and kshatriyas.
