Yudhishthira Asks Bhishma to Speak Again
Janamejaya asks Vaishampayana what Yudhishthira next asked Bhishma on his bed of arrows. Vaishampayana relates how Yudhishthira praised Bhishma as the family's last teacher and asked him, in the presence of Narayana and the kings, for an ancient account that would bring lasting good. Bhishma, moved, bows to Hari and begins.

This whole adhyaya is vulgate/southern-manuscript text only; in the CE it is part of App. I No. 15 (13,134.057d@015_0001-0031 here; the passage continues past this adhyaya), inserted after 13.134.57. Wikisource's first row ran together the speaker heading ('वैशम्पायन* उवाच ।', page row 13-202-1x) with the verse; the heading is dropped from the Sanskrit and made the speaker (the asterisk points to the page's footnote on the Northern manuscripts). The second line is elliptical in Wikisource (CE: yad yudhiṣṭhire); kept as printed and translated by its sense.

Corrected सर्वशास्त्रविशारदः → सर्वशास्त्रविशारद (stray visarga in Wikisource; the word is a vocative with पितामह महाप्राज्ञ, as in CE 15_0011 sarvaśāstraviśārada). Speech without a printed heading: Yudhishthira's address to Bhishma (verses 6-13) runs inside Vaishampayana's narration; the CE marks its start at 15_0010-0011. The speaker is set to Yudhishthira here, not to the carried-over Vaishampayana.
