Kadru Orders Her Sons to Darken the Horse's Tail

Bhishma tells how Kadru told her sons of her wager with Vinata over the colour of the horse Uchchaihshravas, and ordered them to enter its tail as black hairs so that she would win. The serpents refused to take part in a victory won by deceit and threatened to abandon her. Kadru rejected their reasoning, took the fault upon the whole matter, and commanded them again to enter the horse's tail.
