Why Women Fall, Why Some Are Servants, and How a Master Should Act

Uma asks why some women are unchaste, widowed or wear the marks of heterodox sects, and why some men are craftsmen, entertainers and menials, or slaves. Shiva names the earlier wrongs behind each: betraying a husband, poisoning him, envy and greed, arrogance and pride, and seizing another's property or wealth held in trust. He then says how a servant should seek release by serving well, and a master should treat his workers justly, and ends by asking what more she wishes to hear.
