The Gift of Sesame and the Fruits of Many Gifts
Uma asks how sesame is to be given, and Maheshvara describes the heap of sesame offered to brahmins on the full moon. He then lists the rewards of other gifts and works: food, water, clothing, lamps, umbrellas, servants, vehicles, shelter, wells, trees, bridges, roads, medicines and halls. In answer to Uma’s further question he explains that a gift bears fruit according to its kind, and none if given with an eye on the reward.
