The Measure of Gifts and the Kinds of Dharma

Uma asks the measure of the fruit of dharma, and Maheshvara teaches that a gift of one's essential wealth is best, whether a poor man's prastha or a rich man's ten million. He lists the fivefold fruit of gifts (endless, great, equal, lesser, sinful), the six qualities of a good gift, and the public works the good should do. Asked how many kinds of dharma there are, he names those of Shruti, Smriti, region, family, caste, group and emergency, and says the fruit comes only when the cause is rightly met.
