Maheshvara Describes the Pashupatas and the Worship of the Linga

Uma praises Maheshvara and asks how his devotees serve him and attain union with him. Maheshvara tells how he taught the great Pashupata Yoga to four brahmins drawn from the four orders of life, describes his ash-smeared Pashupata devotees, and declares that a single bow to the Shiva-linga outweighs sacrifices and gifts. He lists the fruits of worshipping the linga with milk, ghee, water, incense and flowers, names the leaves and flowers he loves best, and closes with the fate of his devotees and of those who hate them.
