Garuda Seeks His Father's Counsel on Winning the Nectar
Garuda tells his father Kashyapa of his promise to fetch the nectar and so free his mother. Kashyapa warns him how closely the nectar is guarded, by waters, by fire, by Kinkara rakshasas and by an iron net, with Indra and the gods behind them. Garuda answers that he is strong and resourceful and asks what more he should do; Kashyapa tells him to eat the fierce elephant and tortoise, to gain immeasurable strength.
