Brahma Tells Garuda How to Quench the Fire
Garuda eats the elephant and the tortoise on a mountain peak, drinks their blood and, strengthened, goes to Indra's abode, where he sees the fire blazing around the nectar. Afraid of it, he goes to Brahma, explains his purpose and asks how to pass the fire. Brahma smiles and tells him that fire is quenched by milk and ghee: let him pour butter or milk on it and go his way unburned.
