Yudhishthira's Dread of Rebirth and His Plea for the Vaishnava Dharma
Yudhishthira tells Bhishma that his heart is troubled: apart from Narayana nothing in the world seems holy. He recounts the many dharmas he has already heard (sacrifices, vows, the stages of life, gifts, and the duties of kings), but every deed brings a fruit that must be enjoyed and then lost. He describes the torments of hell, the suffering of the womb and of birth, the uncertainty of death, and the instability even of heaven, and says that only Vishnu protects his devotees as he would his own body. Taking refuge at Bhishma's feet, he asks to be taught the dharma that ends birth, old age and death.

Verse 1 (13.36.1)
चित्तं मे दूयते तात लोके परमविन्दतः ॥
cittaṃ me dūyate tāta loke paramavindataḥ
My heart is tormented, grandsire, for I find nothing supreme in the world.
Note on the text: Removed the speaker heading "`युधिष्ठिर उवाच" (with a stray backtick) that had slipped into the verse text; it is made the speaker. The page opens with that heading (13-36-1x). One-line verse as printed (13-36-1a). Not in the critical edition's constituted text: lines of the CE's inline Appendix I passage (App. I No. 3, printed after 13.13.6 as 13,013.006d@003_0001); vulgate-only otherwise.
Verse 2 (13.36.2)
अशाश्वतमिदं सर्वं जगत्स्थावरजङ्गमम् । ऋते नारायणं पुण्यं प्रतिभाति पितामह ॥
aśāśvatamidaṃ sarvaṃ jagatsthāvarajaṅgamam | ṛte nārāyaṇaṃ puṇyaṃ pratibhāti pitāmaha
All this world, moving and unmoving, is impermanent; apart from Narayana, nothing seems holy, O grandsire.
Note on the text: Corrected क्रते → ऋते (misprint in Wikisource; CE 'ṛte'). Speaker: heading slipped into verse 1 carries over. Not in the critical edition's constituted text: lines of the CE's inline Appendix I passage (App. I No. 3, printed after 13.13.6 as 13,013.006d@003_0002-0003); vulgate-only otherwise.
Verse 3 (13.36.3)
नारायणो हि विश्वात्मा पुरुषः पुष्करेक्षणः । तस्यास्य देवकीसूनोः श्रुतं कृत्स्नं त्वयाऽनघ ॥
nārāyaṇo hi viśvātmā puruṣaḥ puṣkarekṣaṇaḥ | tasyāsya devakīsūnoḥ śrutaṃ kṛtsnaṃ tvayā'nagha
For Narayana is the self of the universe, the Person with lotus eyes; and of this son of Devaki you have heard everything, O sinless one.
Note on the text: Speaker as the page heads it (Yudhishthira, 13-36-1x). In the CE's Appendix I text the heading 'bhīṣmaḥ' stands before line 13,013.006d@003_0005 (this verse's second line) and 'yudhiṣṭhiraḥ' after @003_0006, so the CE gives line 2 and the next verse to Bhishma; the page's headings are kept. Not in the critical edition's constituted text: lines of the CE's inline Appendix I passage (App. I No. 3, printed after 13.13.6 as 13,013.006d@003_0004-0005); vulgate-only otherwise.

Yudhishthira, great-minded one, I have seen him too, in battle.
Note on the text: One-line verse as printed (13-36-4a), under the page's heading 'भीष्म उवाच' (13-36-4x). In the CE the line belongs to the same speech as the previous verse's second line (see the note on verse 3).
