Narada on the Giving of Daughters
Markandeya asks Narada about the marriage of sons and daughters. Narada says a girl should be given to a suitable husband in due time and describes the guilt of the kinsman who withholds her, the status of a remarried woman, the sons called kanina and sahodhaja, and the kaumari wife. He closes by praising maidens as Lakshmi herself, and the virtuous wife as the prosperity and continuance of the family.
