The Defences of Dvaraka

Yudhishthira asks Krishna to tell the story of Saubha's destruction in full. Krishna begins with Shalva's siege of Dvaraka from the sky and describes how the city was readied: its gates, towers and war-engines, its stores of weapons, the Yadava champions and guards posted throughout, the ban on liquor, the expulsion of entertainers, the broken bridges, staked moats and treacherous ground, the sealed gates and the well-paid, well-tried army, all under the protection of King Ahuka (Ugrasena).
