Pritha Promises to Serve the Brahmin
Pritha assures Kuntibhoja that honouring Brahmins is her nature and that she will serve the guest at any hour without giving him cause for anger, mindful that Brahmins can save or destroy, as Chyavana did for Sukanya's offence. The king embraces and instructs her, then entrusts her to the Brahmin and asks him to forgive a young girl's faults. The Brahmin agrees, is given a gleaming house with a seat in the fire-chamber, and Pritha, setting aside sloth and pride, serves him as one would a god.
