Kunti Resolves to Follow Dhritarashtra into the Forest
Dhritarashtra leaves the city by the Vardhamana gate amid the lament of the crowd, sends the people back, and entrusts Kripa and Yuyutsu to Yudhishthira; Vidura and Sanjaya go with him. Yudhishthira begs his mother Kunti to turn back, but she, holding Gandhari, gives her farewell counsel: care for Sahadeva, remember Karna and give gifts in his name, keep Draupadi content and look after the brothers. Yudhishthira and Bhima plead with her, yet she does not yield, and Draupadi and Subhadra follow her; she stops and wipes her tears to speak to her sons.
