Krishna Meets Uttanka and Is Threatened with a Curse
As Krishna drives toward Dvaraka, omens favour his journey. In the desert he meets the sage Uttanka, who asks whether he made peace between the Kurus and the Pandavas. Krishna answers that the Kurus ignored his counsel and the counsel of Bhishma and Vidura and so perished. Uttanka, enraged that Krishna did not save them, threatens to curse him; Krishna asks him to hear the teaching of the Self first, saying he does not wish Uttanka's hard-won austerity to be wasted.
