Krishna Teaches Uttanka the Truth of the Self

Uttanka asks Krishna for the teaching about the Self before deciding whether to curse him. Krishna declares that the three qualities, the gods and all beings, and every rite and duty are his own, and that he enters the wombs of gods, Gandharvas, Nagas, Yakshas, Rakshasas and men to uphold dharma. Among men he pleaded with the Kurus and warned them, but they would not listen; bound to unrighteousness, they were slain and went to heaven, while the Pandavas gained renown.
