The Offerings to Shiva and the Digging Up of the Treasure
At the brahmins' urging, Yudhishthira makes offerings to Shiva, to Kubera and the Yakshas, and to the spirits, and the king gives thousands of cows. Led by Vyasa, he then honours the treasures and their guardians and has the buried hoard dug up: vessels and utensils beyond count. Loaded on thousands of camels, horses, elephants, carts and chariots, the wealth is carried towards Hastinapura, the army halting at every gorūta.
