Karna Spares Bhima, and Arjuna Drives Karna Off

Karna and Bhima fight on, each shattering the other's arrows and bows; Bhima cuts down eighteen of Karna's bows, then, stripped of bow, chariot and sword, shelters among the dead elephants and hurls their broken parts at Karna. Karna, remembering Kunti's words, spares him, but touches him with his bow and mocks him as a glutton unfit for war; Bhima answers with a challenge to wrestle. At Krishna's urging Arjuna drives Karna off with his arrows, Bhima mounts Satyaki's chariot, and Arjuna turns on Drona's son and the army.
