Gravely struck by the mighty one, he fell down, struck senseless; and Shrutarva lifted him onto a chariot and carried him from the field of battle.

Note on the text: Corrected अतिविद्वो → अतिविद्धो (misprint in Wikisource; द्व for द्ध). Removed the stray wiki quote mark that closes the interpolated passage. Not in the critical edition's main text; it is CE Appendix I No. 13 (printed after 8.38.38), lines 0019 and 0021 (8.38.38d@013_0019, 0021); Wikisource reads श्रुतर्वा for the Appendix's śrutavān.

Verse 48 (8.49.48)

धृष्टद्युम्नस्तु समरे दृष्ट्वा शत्रुं महारथः । कौरवान्समरे तूर्णं वारयामास सायकैः ॥

dhṛṣṭadyumnastu samare dṛṣṭvā śatruṃ mahārathaḥ | kauravānsamare tūrṇaṃ vārayāmāsa sāyakaiḥ

Seeing the enemy before him, Dhrishtadyumna, the great warrior, swiftly checked the Kauravas in the battle with his arrows.

Verse 49 (8.49.49)

ततस्ते तावका योधा धृष्टद्युम्नमुपाद्रवन् । सिंहनादरवांश्चक्रुस्ततो युद्धमवर्तत ॥

tataste tāvakā yodhā dhṛṣṭadyumnamupādravan | siṃhanādaravāṃścakrustato yuddhamavartata

Then those warriors of yours rushed at Dhrishtadyumna, raising lion-roars, and the battle went on.
