Arjuna Rescues Dhrishtadyumna from Ashvatthama

Dhrishtadyumna answers Ashvatthama's threat and wounds him. Ashvatthama cuts down Dhrishtadyumna's bow, horses, charioteer and chariot, breaks his sword, and leaps at him with his own blade. Krishna urges Arjuna to save him, and Arjuna's arrows drive Ashvatthama back until a nārāca stuns him and his charioteer carries him away. Sahadeva bears Dhrishtadyumna off the field; Karna eyes Arjuna and longs for a duel, but Arjuna asks Krishna to turn to the Samshaptakas.
