Padmanabha Returns and His Wife Speaks of Duty
When his month of service to the sun is over, Padmanabha returns home. His wife greets him with the usual courtesies and he asks whether she has kept up her duties to gods and guests. She answers with the duties of each order, of pupils, Brahmins, servants, kings, Vaishyas, Shudras and householders, and says that for a wife the highest dharma is devotion to her husband, which she has kept. She tells him that a Brahmin has waited on the Gomati for seven or eight days to see him, and urges him to go.
