The Serpent Quells His Anger and Goes to the Brahmin
Padmanabha asks his wife whether the visitor is a man or a god, since men are not made to look on serpents. She answers that he is no god, only an eager supplicant, and urges her husband to put aside his anger and see him, for turning away a hopeful guest is as sinful as killing an embryo. Padmanabha admits that his anger comes with his birth, cites Ravana and the sons of Kartavirya as victims of anger, says he has restrained it, and goes to meet the Brahmin.
