Duryodhana Readies His Army
Janamejaya asks what Duryodhana did on hearing that Yudhishthira had encamped at Kurukshetra. Vaishampayana tells how, after Krishna's departure, Duryodhana warns Karna, Duhshasana and Shakuni that war is now certain and orders well-supplied, defensible camps at Kurukshetra and a march the next day. The kings rise eagerly, arm themselves and ready their chariots, horses and elephants, and Hastinapura, astir with warriors, looks like the ocean swelling at moonrise.
