Amba Asks Rama to Slay Bhishma
Akritavrana asks Amba against whom she wants redress, Salva or Bhishma, and judges that Bhishma, proud and flushed with victory, is the one to answer for her plight. Next morning Rama, son of Jamadagni, arrives with his disciples and is welcomed; Hotravahana presents his granddaughter, and Amba takes refuge with Rama and tells him her story. Rama offers to send word to Bhishma and to burn him in battle if he will not obey, or else to set Salva to the task; Amba begs him to slay Bhishma, the root of her misfortune, as Indra slew Vritra.

duḥkhaṃ dvayoridaṃ bhadre katarasya cikīrṣasi | pratikartavyamabale tattvaṃ vatse vadasva me
Good lady, this sorrow of yours comes from two men. Against which of the two do you want redress taken, frail one? Tell me that truly, child.
Note on the text: Corrected दुःख → दुःखं (misprint in Wikisource; a dropped anusvara: the page's own gloss reads "द्वयोः सकाशात्", i.e. "this sorrow comes from two"). The critical edition has the compound duḥkhadvayam; वदस्व (CE bravīhi) kept as a variant.
