The Five Villages
Yudhishthira reflects that the Ordainer holds all beings in his power, then tells Sanjaya what to say at Hastinapura: to remind Dhritarashtra that he once gave the Pandavas their kingdom, to ask Bhishma to keep his grandsons at peace, and to ask Vidura to speak against war. To Duryodhana he is to recall all the wrongs the Pandavas have borne to spare the Kurus, and to ask for their rightful share — or, for the sake of peace, just five villages: Avisthala, Vrikasthala, Makandi, Varanavata and one more. Yudhishthira declares himself ready for peace or for war.
