Omens on Krishna's Road and the Night at Vrikasthala
Janamejaya asks how Krishna travelled and what signs attended him. Vaishampayana tells of portents — thunder from a cloudless sky, rivers flowing backward, fires flaring, the earth shaking, darkness and dust, and a fierce wind battering Hastinapura — while wherever Krishna went the wind was pleasant, flowers rained down and the road lay smooth. Honoured by brahmins and village women and passing through prosperous lands, he reaches Vrikasthala at sunset, performs his evening worship, accepts the hospitality of the village's leading brahmins, feeds them and spends the night there in comfort.

Wikisource marks this verse and the next as additions and places them before the critical edition's 5.82.21–22; the page's order is kept. Removed a stray backtick before the verse (Wikisource formatting debris).
