rājovāca hariṇā tu kathaṁ yajñaḥ kṛtaḥ pūrvaṁ pitāmaha jagatkāraṇarūpeṇa viṣṇunā prabhaviṣṇunā

The king said: "O grandfather, how was the sacrifice performed of old by Hari — by Vishnu, of the very nature of the cause of the universe, the mighty and pervading one?

Verse 2 (devibhagavatam.3.13.2)

ke sahāyāstu tatrāsanbrāhmaṇāḥ ke mahāmate ṛtvijo vedatattvajñāstanme brūhi parantapa

"Who were his helpers there? Which brahmins, O great-minded one — knowers of the truth of the Vedas — were the officiating priests? Tell me this, O scorcher of foes.

Verse 3 (devibhagavatam.3.13.3)

"Afterwards, I shall perform the sacrifice by the rite laid down in the scriptures, once I have heard, with a composed mind, of the sacrifice to Ambika performed by Vishnu."

Verse 4 (devibhagavatam.3.13.4)

Vyasa said: "O king, O greatly fortunate one, listen to the most wondrous account, in detail, of how the sacrifice was performed by the blessed lord according to due rite.

Verse 5 (devibhagavatam.3.13.5)

visarjitā yadā devyā dattvā śaktīśca tāstrayaḥ kājeśāḥ puruṣā jātā vimānavaramāsthitāḥ

"When they had been dismissed by the Goddess, after she had given those three Shaktis, the lords, having become men again, mounted upon the excellent chariot.

Verse 6 (devibhagavatam.3.13.6)

"Because of its union with the fat of Madhu and Kaitabha, it is remembered as 'Medini'; and because of its capacity to hold and support, it is called 'Dhara'; because of its wide extent, it is called 'Prithvi.'

Verse 9 (devibhagavatam.3.13.9)

"— and the horse Uccaihshravas likewise, and the apsaras headed by Rambha — all of it, arisen from the ocean, was taken by Indra as the very ornament of heaven.

Verse 23 (devibhagavatam.3.13.23)

They went, greatly delighted, to their own purifying hermitages.

Verse 59 (devibhagavatam.3.13.59)

śrutvā vāṇīṁ paramaviśadāṁ vyomajāṁ śrotraramyāṁ sarveṣāṁ vai prakṛtiviṣaye bhaktibhāvaśca jātaḥ cakruḥ sarve dvijamunigaṇāḥ pūjanaṁ bhaktiyuktāstasyāḥ kāmaṁ nikhilaphaladaṁ cāgamoktaṁ munīndrāḥ

Having heard that most clear, sky-born, ear-delighting voice, devotion arose in all of them toward Prakriti; all the hosts of brahmins and sages, filled with devotion, performed her worship — she who grants every fruit — as declared in the scriptures, O foremost of sages.
