In due time, Hari made his entry into Devaki's womb, having come, by a portion, into Vasudeva, in due order.

— and beheld the face of that son of wondrous deeds. Gazing upon his son's face, Shauri became filled with anxiety.

Verse 25 (devibhagavatam.4.23.25)

sandeho'tra na kartavyaḥ kālasya viṣamā gatiḥ | iti sañcintya tāṁ bālāṁ gṛhītvā pādayoḥ khalaḥ ||

"No doubt need be entertained here — the course of time is uncertain." Thus reflecting, that wicked one, seizing the infant girl by the feet—

Verse 45 (devibhagavatam.4.23.45)

haniṣyati durārādhyaḥ sarvathā tvāṁ narādhamam | ityuktvā sā gatā kanyā gaganaṁ kāmagā śivā ||

kaṁsastu vismayāviṣṭo gato nijagṛhaṁ tadā | ānāyya dānavānsarvānidaṁ vacanamabravīt ||

Kamsa, overcome with astonishment, then went to his own palace; having summoned all the Danavas, he spoke these words—

Verse 49 (devibhagavatam.4.23.49)

bakadhenukavatsādīnkrodhāviṣṭo bhayāturaḥ | gacchantu dānavāḥ sarve mama kāryārthasiddhaye ||

— to Baka, Dhenuka, Vatsa, and the rest, overcome with anger and terror: "Let all the Danavas go, for the accomplishment of my purpose."

Verse 50 (devibhagavatam.4.23.50)

Verse 51 (devibhagavatam.4.23.51)

jātamātrānvinighnantī śiśūṁstatra mamājñayā | dhenuko vatsakaḥ keśī pralambo baka eva ca ||

"Slaying newborn infants there, by my command — and let Dhenuka, Vatsaka, Keshi, Pralamba, and Baka indeed—"

Verse 52 (devibhagavatam.4.23.52)

sarve tiṣṭhantu tatraiva mama kāryacikīrṣayā | ityājñāpyāsurānkaṁso yayau nijagṛhaṁ khalaḥ ||

"— all remain right there, for the accomplishment of my purpose." Having thus commanded the Asuras, the wicked Kamsa went to his own palace.

Verse 53 (devibhagavatam.4.23.53)

cintāviṣṭo'tidīnātmā cintayitvaiva taṁ punaḥ ||

Overcome with anxiety, most wretched of soul, having reflected upon that danger again—
