Verse 20 (devibhagavatam.6.8.20)

bṛhaspatiḥ surānāha tacchrutvā dāruṇaṁ vacaḥ | nāhaṁ tyakṣye tu paulomīṁ satīṁ ca śaraṇāgatām

The guru said: 'Let Shachi go to him and, tempting the king with skillful words, propose this condition: "Once I have confirmed my husband is dead, I shall then accept you."'

Verse 23 (devibhagavatam.6.8.23)

Verse 27 (devibhagavatam.6.8.27)

adyāsmi vāsavaḥ kānte bhaja māṁ cārulocane | patitve sarvalokasya pūjyo'haṁ vihitaḥ suraiḥ

Thus addressed, she, trembling and overcome with shame, said to the king: 'I wish, O king, O lord of the gods, to receive a boon from you.'

Verse 29 (devibhagavatam.6.8.29)

kiñcitkālaṁ pratīkṣasva yāvatkurve vinirṇayam | indro'stīti na vāstīti sandeho me hṛdi sthitaḥ

vyasarjayatsa tāṁ devīṁ tathetyuktvā mudānvitaḥ | sā visṛṣṭā nṛpeṇāśu gatvā prāha surānsatī

He, well pleased, said 'So be it,' and let the goddess go; and she, thus released by the king, went at once to the gods and, chaste as ever, spoke to them.

ādidevaṁ jagannāthaṁ śaraṇāgatavatsalam | ūcuścainaṁ samudvignā vākyaṁ vākyaviśāradāḥ
